Stbex not paying bills

Please help, for a friend (honestly, you can see from my past threads I've been through my own drama).

She has told him marriage is over. He has become nasty. Verbally nasty. They have £60k plus of debt. The house was extended but there is no completion certificate as he refuses to finish last few bits & she has no money to pay for them. She has had it valued & the equity would pay off debts plus money over.

He is refusing to finish jobs, refusing to sell & now refusing to pay any bills. He is irrational, does not understand it will affect their credit rating, house could be repossessed etc. They have 3 kids under 10.

Can anyone advise?

She needs to see a solicitor, with as full as possible a picture of assets/debts they both have.

This should lead to advice on the range of possible outcomes, both for arrangements for the child and for a financial settlement, and the way to go about reaching them.

He doesn't sound terribly open to mediation at the moment, but it may be that it needs to be attempted.
