URGENT help with DC passport application and EA exH

Teabay · 30/06/2017 07:18

I'm renewing my DC passport for a summer holiday trip.
Am divorced from nightmare abusive exH.
Filling in the form I need his passport number and expiration date.
I phoned him - he hung up.
I texted him - he ignored me.

Can I send it off without these? I don't want to be too late to apply but I can't get hold of them!

Anyone else done this? Thanks.

Couldn't you apply for a new one stating the old one has been lost? Unlikely you'd have then date and number if it was lost.

ALemonyPea · 30/06/2017 07:28

You don't need his passport info if you're using yours. Just put in the comments box the reasons why you've not provided it.

However, it might prove tricky to leave the country if you do not have his permission.

dementedpixie · 30/06/2017 07:28

I would leave them off and put an explanation in the extra info bit.

Hissy · 30/06/2017 07:32

My ds first passport had his dad's details

(Also abusive)

Second and 3rd applications have no mention of his dad

Don't worry about it!

If you have a court order saying that your dc lives with you, I'd include a copy of that. But even if you don't, as the other posters said, it shouldn't stop you getting this passport.

Ginorchoc · 30/06/2017 09:48

I didn't need them when I renewed my daughters?

Desmondo2016 · 30/06/2017 09:53

I just left it off too. No issues.

We had hardly any of the information relating to her father's side of the family when I applied for my daughter's first passport. I just wrote a letter explaining why (no contact/abuse) and we got the passport no trouble

mum11970 · 30/06/2017 20:02

The post office should be able to advise you as they do a checking service for passports.

donners312 · 30/06/2017 20:50

I had this as well - you jus write an explanation in the box and it was issued with no problem.

jeaux90 · 30/06/2017 20:59

Yep me too. It should be fine.

MrsBertBibby · 30/06/2017 21:09

My ex did this. I just put in a note explaining he was being a dick, passport came back no questions asked.

Teabay · 01/07/2017 08:52

Thank you everyone - I posted it yesterday so I'll let you know if my DC passport is issued next week!

Tea if you don't get a letter from the ex with permission to travel they might ask you on exit or entry. I just said "my ex is an asshole who lives in Singapore and hasn't seen her in 6 years" border control were Confused and let me through.

You don't need it. I asked my ex for his details and he never got back to me, so I sent it without. No problems.
