I have deleted every email that has his name is mentioned and then deleted delete folder....but then when I search under his name they all come back?? How?

I've deleted his contacted but when I click on search his name is still there and I can't see a way of getting rid.

Please help.

Ask google?

Sorry I can't be more helpful op.

tich31 · 20/06/2017 23:31

I have of course!!
I've done what it said but then when I search again under his name all the messages come up again..I delete them and delete the deleted folder but they still come up.

And I can't find a way to get rid of a name in the search block...and yes I have used google for that as well.

Would it be really inconvenient to start again with a new email address?

Other than that I'd just mark his name as spam.

GreenTulips · 20/06/2017 23:37

Have you emptied the trash folder?

HarmlessChap · 20/06/2017 23:39

It's been a while since I used Outlook but believe it allows you to set up rules. In which case just set up a rule that any email for the email address [email protected] gets deleted or moved to trash.

tich31 · 20/06/2017 23:40

Yes....junk email empty.

I've just deleted all again and deleted file but when I search his name they are all there.....!!

How is it impossible to delete a person from your life?!

And I can't find a way to get rid of his name in the search for people box.

And no I don't want to get a new email address. Surely I can just get rid of emails etc and a persons email address.

Have you permenantly deleted them or have they gone to a deleted folder and then need to be permenantly deleted from there?

tich31 · 20/06/2017 23:46

I have deleted the deleted file! But they still turn up when I search under his name...

Unless there is a 3rd deleted file to consider??

Nightmare. I want him gone.

Have you followed this?

www.extendoffice.com/documents/outlook/1521-outlook-permanently-delete-items-messages.html

tich31 · 21/06/2017 00:01

OK...I will look at that tomorrow and see if it helps but I am totally frustrated at how difficult it is to delete someone from your life!!

I'm quite angry really...he shouldn't be able to linger so longer in my life after he's gone.

Sorry not much help but this happened to me after a particularly abusive ex showed his true colours I started to erase him from everything did everything that you did but even now years later if I search in my inbox even an innocuous search term emails between him and me will pop up again. V strange!

Isetan · 21/06/2017 08:11

It sounds like you're deleting local copies of the emails and when you search, it just goes back and downloads a copy of the original from the server where they are actually being stored.

You need to enquire and follow the recommendations for whoever is hosting your email server; Google, Microsoft, Apple etc.

Isetan · 21/06/2017 08:12

Oh and clear your cache, where copies of files are temporarily stored for quick access.

MsStricty · 21/06/2017 08:17

I'm with Isetan. Are you using a pc based mail program but your email is web-based, ie Yahoo, Google, Hotmail, etc? If so, you need to set it up so that the emails you delete on your pc also get deleted on the mail server, ie on the website. Otherwise you're just deleting copies of them and not the originals, which won't be on your machine.

oscareyeballs · 21/06/2017 09:14

Do you mean this?

I'd just click on the cross on the right to delete the name, same in the Outlook program.

how do you delete someone from your email account???
LesisMiserable · 21/06/2017 09:30

Stop searching up his name?? And it will be like he's not there at all.

tich31 · 21/06/2017 12:07

His name comes up in my list when I send emails......

OP posts:
MsStricty · 21/06/2017 12:44

That's your address book

BaronessEllaSaturday · 21/06/2017 12:47

Have you deleted all emails from the sent folder?

scottishdiem · 21/06/2017 12:49

To remove a name or email address from Outlook's autocomplete list:
Create a new email message in Outlook.
Start typing the name or address you want to remove.
Use the down arrow key (↓) to highlight the desired (undesired) entry.
Press Del.

MissCherryCakeyBun · 21/06/2017 13:03

Outlook is internet based so you need to log on to the online version ( think of it as the original) and remove from there

After a similar problem I simply got myself s new email address and closed the old one down. It stopped anything from him appearing if/when he got drunk and emailed and it also got rid of shed loads of spam.

If you have emails in your current name you wish to keep forward them to the new email before you delete and close the old one

Mackan1 · 22/06/2017 14:49

could be cache that that has been saved,
Open "internet option" > Browsing history > Delete button > select all boxes apart from "passwords" click delete.

also do the following
Start > Run > Type "temp" > ok
Select all Delete (some files my not delete)
then do
Start > Run > Type "%temp%"

Select all Delete (some files my not delete)

now try again to see if his name comes up

Isetan · 22/06/2017 18:37

I'm a Mac user and I have limited experience of Windows 10 but whenever I have an issue with Apple software, I just Google the problem and there are always very helpful people on various forums who will help.

Once you successfully deleted your Ex's email, don't forget to block his email address.

JaneEyre70 · 22/06/2017 18:41

Delete him from your address book, then block his email address.

tich31 · 22/06/2017 23:12

Thanks for all your help. I think I've sorted it!
