Ex refusing to pay for mediaton, anything I can do?

My ex and I are in the process of a divorce, we have the decree nisi but we need to get our finances in order before we can go for the absolute.

Ex offered to buy me out of our the flat we own together for 2k, which could considering its worth 315k and has gone up in value by 50k since we bought it, that's a pretty shit offer I think.

He's refusing to back down and make a better offer, so we're having to go to mediation. Problem is he won't pay a penny for it himself, he says it's me that wants more money out of the flat, not him.

Because of this, it's going to cost me 800 quid which I had to put on dps credit card as I didn't have it.

Is there any way I can make him pay?

Dps? Is this darling partner?

No idea on the legal side. Can you not sell the flat?

RandomMess · 16/06/2017 15:16

Well he's having a laugh if he thinks you're not entitled to most likely 50% of the equity depending on length of marriage and prior co-habitation let alone housing and DC!

I think you can ask courts to award costs if that is where you end up...

FizzyGreenWater · 16/06/2017 18:21

Haha! Offer to buy him out for 4k.

'I don't understand- I'm offering you TWICE what you offered me, but you won't accept it? Surely if you thought 2k was a fair offer you'd be delighted-?

He has to pay his half of mediation. You don't pay it all. I know this as dp just been through this with ex wife she refused to reply to mediator so we are having to go to court to get clean break

Does he have legal advice? His offer is ridiculous.

I like fizzy waters plan.

Dickhead.

Just go to court and get him to pay the costs. Simples.
