How do I physically leave with no support?

I've been secretly saving to leave DP and I've finally found a landlord that will take us. The problem is I have no help or support and there's no chance he'll help once I tell him. How do I move bunk beds, sofas ect alone at 7 months pregnant? I am so relieved to be going but daunted by how much I have to do and how I'm going to do it alone.

Do you have any friends or family that can help you?

Moanyoldcow · 13/06/2017 23:03

Can you hire a man with a van?

TheFifthKey · 13/06/2017 23:04

Man with a van? I hired one for really cheap when I moved out of my house and he was super helpful. Look on Facebook.

LottieG100 · 14/06/2017 14:45

Man with a van will load and unload but not dismantle and reassemble furniture and I can't do that bit myself.

And well done!! Been there. Had a lovely friend and her dh help me. Jehovas Witnesses and the nicest couple I ever knew. .
Fast forward and happily married.

Good luck in your new life too!!

MADEinLONDON · 14/06/2017 20:25

If you're near north London I'll come and help! X

whatsmyname2017 · 14/06/2017 21:09

I'm pretty sure you would find a removal company or smaller 'man with a van' who would dismantle and re-assemble. Obviously you might pay a bit more.
I have the same problem when my house sells but I'm not pregnant so can try to do most of it myself.
Good luck x

cordeliavorkosigan · 14/06/2017 21:10

Try bidvine, I've found it to be great for finding people to do specific jobs

FlipflopsOrWellieboots · 14/06/2017 21:15

Just move, sleep on mattresses and work out bunk bed assembly later.... don't let it be this that stops you

LottieG100 · 14/06/2017 22:40

It won't stop me but if I don't move them, he'll keep them and I can't afford to buy more.

Could a friend's husband/boyfriend help with the bigger stuff? There must be atleast one person you can ask?

springydaffs · 14/06/2017 23:55

Women's Aid? The clue is in the name...

You could approach churches - call to speak to the vicar. Also try eg WI (Women's Institute) or Mothers Union. Look at adverts in local shops /post office for odd job people - perhaps put an ad in yourself/post up on local community site?

Have you been subjected to abuse in your relationship?

Wishing you will op xx

springydaffs · 14/06/2017 23:59

Not everyone has 'just one person they could ask', cheese

LottieG100 · 15/06/2017 00:04

I honestly have no one. Yes, it's abusive so I need to move on the quiet and can't advertise

OP - Do you live in Bournemouth?

Lunagirl · 15/06/2017 00:23

So sorry you're going through this OP. Good on you for having the guts to do so. Flowers

springydaffs · 15/06/2017 00:58

Oh my God, get onto Women's Aid - pronto! Your situation is PRECISELY what they're there for.

You do not need to do this alone. In fact, it's dangerous to do this alone. Women's Aid are THE experts in this and have a great deal of practical resource to support you to the hilt.

Look at their site. Then click 'national directory' to find your local WA office. (or contact helpline 0808 2000 247 but lines busy during the day and I doubt you can call at night). And /or send an email.

You know how to delete your online activity, yes? WA site will show you how if not.

Get them behind you. There is a great deal they can do for you.

West Yorkshire, inbox me if the right area. I can build furniture (but I cannot wallpaper)

parklives · 15/06/2017 01:09

Are you in Kent? Pm if you are and I will try and help.

Howlongtilldinner · 15/06/2017 02:11

Yes...man with a van is a great idea. And what a lovely bunch of people here offering to help, such kindness OP. I'll gladly help too, I'm in Essex.

As PP said, don't let the dismantling of furniture stop you from leaving an abusive relationship, lots of stuff on free cycle etc once you're where you want to be.

The only thing you should be concerned about taking is yourself, YOU are irreplaceable.

Good luck Flowers
