Would this recording be any use to the police in proving rape?

was going to NC for this but don't know how. This has played on my mind a lot recently so please bare with me.

A few years ago my ex tried having sex with me while I was crying, wrapped in a towel and sort of on my knees leaning forward. I said no but he did anyway. As ridiculous as it sounds, I never considered it rape at the time.

Anyway, recently found a phone with an old recording on where I had tried to get a 'confession'. It started with him telling me he's told his sister 'what I'm like'. I said 'did you tell her you raped me though?' And he says 'no'. He then keeps saying that he 'can't remember' when I ask what happened if my version is untrue, and he 'can't remember' apologising after. I know it isn't him admitting it and won't be any use in court but is it any use at all if I do go the police?

To be honest I very much doubt that it will be any good at all. IIRC (from when I used to have sort out CCTV recordings) there are a lot of really tight restrictions in place surrounding recordings and unfortunately I don't think this would fit the bill. He also not really admitted it.
But your best bet would be to ask the Police if it's any good if you do decide to go to them.
Sending you lots of hugs, what a horrific thing to go through xx

So sorry this happened to you, OP. Sadly, I'm not sure how strong a piece of evidence it would be viewed as in a court case, although he is certainly a nasty piece of work that's for sure.

Just bumping this for you in case anybody else can give any advice.

Also, have you been in touch with Rape Crisis? They are marvellous. Flowers

Have you considered contacting Rape Crisis for a more informed view?

So sorry this horrible thing happened to you, OP. You can post here for emotional support, even if you decide not to report.
