My relationship is in need of a bit of attention having been neglected for too long. DP and I had a brief chat about going away somewhere but cannot begin to think where.

It needs to be romantic and with good food.

Tell me about yours - I NEED some inspiration!

The Bath Arms

is lovely

dh had our best fun ever in Paris for a long weekend. Fab meals, loads of walks, great.

Also at La Residencia in Mallorca.

Why not send the kids to stay with family/friends for long weekend and have the house to yourselves. Book a nice meal, taxis, get up late, read the papers...lovely. So much more relaxing than going away and can be so much more fun to have the house to yourselves.

I'm just back from Paris - went on Thursday came back yesterday - we dumped the equivalent of a small mortgage on a truly fabulous meal on Friday night - Pol Roger and 2 bottles of Margaux, armagnac etc - ( no, not just for us we were with friends !!)food was good too!!

Then we were a tad taken up with the rugby on Saturday and spent Sunday lolling around the 3rd and 4th arrondisements - nursing hangovers !!

So, not overly "romantic" .... for that I would reccomend Tallin in Estonia !!

DH and I have only ever done overnights but we are planning a two nighter next year for our 10th anniversary. DH wants a city break but somewhere I haven't been and he is struggling.... So far I have come up with Dublin. He is being silly really because some of these places I have only spent a day in 15 years ago....

Dragonfairy · 20/03/2007 14:41

I have just booked a three night break to Rome to celebrate my husband's 40th (it's a surprise) I'll be able to fill you in afterwards! It's our first time abroad for 10 years and first time we'll have spent more than 24hours away without the kids (Can I just hijack briefly to ask what size suitcase I'm going to need? I know it's a daft question but I need to buy one and don't want to get the wrong size, too big/ too small)and I'm sure almost everyone has more experience than me!!) xx

I've done a weekend in London. It was nice then, because I was living in Norfolk, and we did a show, late night walk along the Thames etc. Now, London is only down the road, so wouldn't fancy it as much.
We've booked Nice for Easter, 4 nights without the kids, and so far are planning to go to monaco and maybe cannes while we are there, and drink lots of wine. It's surprisingly cheap too. We got flights from Orbitz for only £150.

twenty nevern square in london is lovely

we have also been to prague which was fantastic

the last time away with the kids was v low budget and called on favours, but i borrowed my sisters seaside house at west wittering

the over head lighting wasn't working so we took candles and used side lamps

we took food and wine down, i cooked the main meal and he did the pudding, and we stayed in listening to music and playing board games, while it poured down outside

the house is right on the beach , so we had a great view when we woke the next day
