i got a sweet card from my mum and nothing from h or dd's! but they are only 2 yr & 8m so not their fault!

Have had dd's all day as h hasn't bothered to grace us with his presence apart from to bundle them both into my bed at 5.45am and then bugger off to the spare room!

I hope some of you have more thoughtful partners!

As a single mum i didn't expect anything as my 2 are so young.
but we arrived at my parents to see my mum and pass on her gifts and the children walked back into the room with a lovely vase of flowers and a teddy...and a card singed by DS! (he is 6 and SN so this is a big deal)

I was really surprised and so incredibly pleased. it really did make my day.

i got breakfast in bed, cards flowers and a teddy bear. what i would've liked more was peace and quiet maybe next year i will get a proper day off

McDreamy · 18/03/2007 18:42

A big box of ferrero rocher which i am eating now - would you like one?

bellarosa · 18/03/2007 20:16

Well I feel slightly naughty for my rant earlier as dh has actually been rather sweet this evening and cooked me a lush roast dinner and put the dd's to bed and bought me some roses, which dd1 gave to me as i walked in the front door (after huffing off for a long walk!)

well i guess he got the hint eventually eh!?!

I GOT A BLOODY FITNESS DVD!
CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? EVEN MY 7 AND 3 YEAR OLDS ARE PUSHING ME TO LOSE WEIGHT!

margo1974 · 18/03/2007 23:19

I posted this on another thread - men eh?

DH did cook dinner for us, my brother and Mum and it was very nice too.

He also got a card from the shops which said "to mummy from your girls" - that was lovely

But no card from him... did he not see me in labour? If men had to have their nipples chewed off and their bits sewn back together they would be requesting knighthoods on Fathers day. (or they'd make blow jobs a mandatory privilege every day of the week. Apologies for being crass, but you know how mens minds work)

I got to be a mum - up at 6, make and clear up breakfast, make and clear up lunch, make and clear up dinner, do 3 loads of laundry, put away all of clothes that had been building up, do a food shop and put kids to bed.
I also got - to make the marmalade I have been meaning to for 2 wks, put muck on the front garden, and got taken out to coffee by dh with dd's and MIL. I also got a lovely card and a book made by my dd.
Dh, who is lovely, believes that mother's day is just a day of commercialization that he would prefer not to buy into. I can see his point, and kind of agree, but the idea of a jewelery or perfume does sound nice, I must admit.
Mind you, I did get a lovely bunch of flowers 2 wks ago, does that count?

MamaMaiasaura · 18/03/2007 23:39

handmade card from ds (7), and some choc and a potted red rose bush (miniture) because he wanted to give a rose that wont die.. bless

Spent evening snuggled watching labyrinth and eating a very naughty pizza!

bellarosa · 19/03/2007 16:15

jenifersofia i wish i got as much done in a day as you! phew you must be knackered!

i too dont buy into the whole comercial aspect of mummas day, but would have loved a simple cuppa in bed and a bunch of daffs from the garden, just to show that he, dh, does appreciate all the relentless mothering i do.

anyway...

Lilies, a pair of Gap jeans and some La Sensa underwear (I think it was from DH really though). And a homemade card that DD made (from DD and DS#2 ) and one that DS#2 made at nursery.

But I made breakfast and lunch although DH made supper.
