My children are at his house every weekend and it's a complete mess, dirty and thick with dust.

I've tried with polite comments. Anyone with ideas on what to say?

Unless there is something making the home dangerous for the DC then nothing. It may not be the way you would live, but if the children are healthy and happy it would be seen as different styles. I say this as someone whose ExH smokes like a chimney and the DC come back reeking again not desirable, but his choice.

True, I see what you're saying. Thanks.

That's not good with the smoking. You say that it's his choice but he's taken away the kids choice by not smoking outside and compromising their health.

My EH home is the same. He never was tidy and I had hoped that when he moved in with his gf their new home would be tidier. Nope! I don't go in the house but I can see from the doorway that there is cutlery everywhere, dried food/drink on the floor. BUT it's not my home so not my business, our kids are happy and that's all that matters

I feel like a bitch now! Yes all that matters is they are happy and healthy. Not everyone loves housework I suppose!

I'm not sure how a dirty house = healthy, even if it's just for a weekend.

What state are the kitchen and bathroom in? Do they have clean bedding?
