Dating in your 40's - is it all doom and gloom?

I’m 41 and about to start dating again. I was in a LTR throughout my 20’s and early 30’s, became single, dated for a bit, fell pregnant and now have a beautiful little 2 year old! My daughters father is not involved (whole other story there!)

For some reason dating in my 40’s (with a toddler) seems a scary idea. I know men tend to go for younger women, so I’m wondering if it’s even worth trying. I look younger then my age so I’m lucky in that respect however I still think it will be a bit of struggle finding someone who is right for me.

Any success stories out there?

Cherry x

I'm sure there'll be lots of people coming along with stories of marriages and LTRs in their 40s.
I'm 49, met someone via on-line dating just over a year ago, and it's going really well. He was the first date I went on, having been single by choice for 10 years.

ah Minty that's fab news! Congrats! I'm not in a rush to meet anyone and happy being single TBH but just thought it would be nice to slowly 'ease' myself back into the dating scene!

Well, it's always worth a try. Get a thick skin and don't get invested too early, like me. Sad

Yes I met my fiancé online in 2012, I was 44 at the time. He is five years younger than me! Grin

I think there may be men in their 40s who would still like the chance of there own family and so are potentially looking for slightly younger women but the men I know who have had their own family before the breakdown of a relationship would rather meet someone who is not looking for more children.

Not a success story, but hope that in time I'll be in a position to move forward and date and find someone I want to share my life with again. I'm 44.
