Throw away comment what does it mean?

I cracked a light hearted joke and the other person said "Don't push it". Does this mean that the person was offended?

Depends on tone. It is basically a signal not to overstep a boundary but it is very often used in a friendly way... Should be easy to tell which from tone and context
