Do any of you take a little break away alone?

So I love the idea of travelling alone, I love travelling with DH and DS too but the independence of travelling on my own is something that I have never done and would love to.

In a few weeks I am thinking of going away sat-tues somewhere in Europe, it's a little spa relaxing place that looks beautiful and is a bargain.

DH has the week off work anyway so will be with DS, and he is fine with me going, DH has a golf weekend booked in June too so said it's just the same as that really.

But..... I have never done it, have a load of mum guilt on my shoulders, and think people will think it's strange eg friends/colleagues when I say I am going away with just me.

Have any of you had a little break on your own? Travel alone? Like your own company sometimes? Was it worth it?

Yes, a lot when I was younger and without family and more recently I have been to several European cities on my own. I book into nice places, always pick the best restaurant I can find and completely indulge. Been to opera on my own when away, Camped alone recently (not as luxurious but wonderful, wild camping) and find that I now struggle when i go away with friends. That may be your only problem if you enjoy travelling along.
Go, you will have a wonderful time, women need to be more confident and go where they want to go, teaches our daughters to do the same.

Well there you go - if Myers Briggs say you should go then that is conclusive Grin

Well I did it, it's booked! Thank you all.

Thelikelylass I completely agree, as a modern woman I do need to be able to travel alone, eat alone, fly alone etc

But a part of it feels very naughty, 4 days just for me! Blush. But the other part of me thinks screw it! I work bloody hard in my career and for my family, my son is fricken awesome and will be fine with the other person responsible for raising him (my DH will be knackered but hey ho!) the world will not crumble without me.
