giving up dating

After my recent crappy experience, one of many, I've just come to the conclusion that dating's really not worth it and I can no longer expend the mental and emotional energy on it, on top of being a lp and all that goes with that. It's not adding to my life overall. I'm going to use that time and energy on myself. I actually finally feel quite happy now to just give up. At least till dcs are at a leaving home age.

I came to the same conclusion myself. OLD was soul destroying. Decided I would pack it in and accept I was on my own. Then out of the blue I got reacquainted with an old friend and we are super happy together. Fairly early days still but looking very promising. These things can come along when you least expect it!

Yes I'm there too. OLD feels like forced fun...forced dating.
I actually met some lovely people but not right for me.
Apart from occasionally missing the physical side, I am very happy!

There can be a "liberating" side to giving up dating. You don't have to fulfil some 'idea' of what you should be or need to be to attract or keep a mate! You can focus on other things that are important to you. At my age (after 50) I am really not sure what the "need" for a romantic relationship is meant to express.

I have arranged a coffee date next week, but like George says feels its a bit forced fun or something... anyway will see
