Considering Speed Dating

Hi,

I don't really feel comfortable with OLD. I would rather meet people in person. I don't meet many new people in real life so I am thinking about booking a speed dating evening.

I'm 47 and live in London so there are some niche evenings for people my age. I've looked at Speed Dater and Original Dating.

Does anyone have any experience or tips?

Thanks

My experience is that the quality of the men was much better but they were telling fibs about their age so as to get to meet younger women

Thanks ThisIsStartingToBoreMe, that's interesting. In a way it is reassuring as one of the sessions I am interested in is 40-48 and as I am 47 I don't mind them being a few years older, I was a bit worried that they would all be younger than me!

I am hoping that by meeting face to face and talking rather than focusing on photos that the whole thing might be less superficial. At least if someone has gone to the trouble to pay for and go to an organised event then they are at least willing to make an effort.

ThisIsStartingToBoreMe, I forgot to ask, did you get any dates from it?

No. I did get matched each time ( I went twice) but they then didn't ask me out for a date. Maybe they were just ticking everyone lol

Oh that's disappointing. Useful to know. I suppose I was thinking if we both ticked each other that would mean a date. I'm clueless about this.

At least you got matched. I don't know how I would cope if I went and nobody ticked me.

Trust me you'll be ticked! I think the men are spread betting Grin

I did read that men tick more people than women do.

I have taken the plunge and booked a session in January. Now I can spend the next few weeks worrying about what to wear, what to talk about etc.
