Has anyone heard of the Henry test and where it came from ? its basically if you think your quite happy in your relationship you borrow your partners phone and look through the last 20 Messages to see if you are ?

Never heard of it.

Sounds like a controlling freaks charter

abear · 06/12/2016 16:56

Just looked at mine, they are from school, DS1, DH, one re a nativity play, one re a delivery, the gardener and one organising lift share. DH would probably just think I am boring!

OurBlanche · 06/12/2016 16:57

Crikey! I'd have to say that, having looked at both out phones, we have decided we are really rather boring!

RedMapleLeaf · 06/12/2016 16:58

I don't get it Confused

CockacidalManiac · 06/12/2016 16:59

If you think that you're quite happy in your relationship, why would you need to snoop on your partner?

ThisIsStartingToBoreMe · 06/12/2016 16:59

To see if you are what?

OurBlanche · 06/12/2016 17:02

It's odd isn't it?

Years ago you had to see an expensive individual who would have spent years training, learning the intricacies of the human psyche.

These days you just pop on to your mobile telephone and lo! It holds all the answers!

AdoraBell · 06/12/2016 17:02

Mine shows me his phone, and emails, all the time.

BumDNC · 06/12/2016 17:03

Mine are so boring!

ThisIsStartingToBoreMe · 06/12/2016 17:08

I've just checked mine. They are from My kids my mum my ex boyfriend my friends and appointment reminders. - what a rock and roll life I lead.

DavidGTI · 06/12/2016 17:15

The reason i ask is a colleague was talking about it today and as Ive not heard of it before i thought id ask on here and see if anyone else has heard of it. my personal perspective is that the trust should be mutual between each other and if i was to snoop and there phone was clean then they are either faithful or just deleting messages as they come through.

Smile I love that level of paranoia... can't use a clean phone as proof of anything other than subterfuge.

DH has a lock on his... too many 3am phonecalls from his pockets as he walked down railway lines or motorways. He phoned quite a few people, not just me. Maybe I should have been suspicious Smile

Mind you, now I am not teaching and my phone no longer spends its life in a drawer, I have a lock in it too. Luckily the person my pockets phone was DSis... as she was teaching her drawer bound phone ignored me Smile

I remember it from the C4 programme 'Cucumber', described by the character Henry:

PhoenixJasmine · 06/12/2016 17:33

It was from the C4 drama Banana last year. I believe it was the last 10 messages, and it wasn't about snooping, it was if both parties were happy to openly share those things.

We actually have this agreement officially, since a bad patch when my DP sent some inappropriate messages anonymously online. It's been a long time since either of us have ever felt the need to look at the others phone, but it's a rule between us that if the other wants they can look through anything. It rebuilt trust.

OurBlanche · 06/12/2016 17:35

Cucumber! Banana! Is C4 co owner of a fruit an veg stall now Smile

Oooer missus!

GerundTheBehemoth · 06/12/2016 17:38

It was from Cucumber, not Banana, but the two programmes were related - they were shown over the same few weeks and there was some character crossover. Also they were both quite rude Grin

DavidGTI · 06/12/2016 17:44

GerundTheBehemoth Thank you, That explains the mystery behind it.

I thought the Henry test was do you know where henry the hoover is and how to use it? Do you actually use it? If they answer yes they are a keeper Grin

PhoenixJasmine · 06/12/2016 19:32

Oh yeah! I watched Cucumber & Banana side by side so for confused. Cucumber was the main story and Banana delved deeper into minor characters each week.

One episode in particular (you know which one) was some of the most powerful tv writing I've ever seen. Not the bit about the Henry test!
