Feeling frisky

No replies in chat and thought this would. E better here. Been in a long term miserable relationship for a while and although it's ended And platonic, I still see my ex all the time as we're now like best friends even though the spark has completely gone. I've been aware that this has been damaging to meeting anyone else...

...but last week I met a colleague for a chat about work and omg I don't know I just felt really invigorated after.

Thing is it's completely one sided on my part and I really need to get a grip but it's just reminded me of how exciting it is to have that spark. And now I'm climbing the walls feeling very frisky and wanting some male attention. Not keen on online dating though but ahhh I need to get back out there. I just can't see how!

Oh my god! I know EXACTLY how you feel!!

Just out of a relationship that was purely platonic at the end (hadn't done the deed for 18 months!). Whilst I feel I need some single time to get myself together, am also yearning (aka desperate!) for some male attention.

Don't want another heavy relationship yet, but not sure if I can do "casual" and is it just all too soon? It's driving me mad!

Have always been against the idea of OLD, but am thinking this is the way to go as everyone else seems to do it.

My XP has started a new relationship. Keep thinking any relationship for me could be some kind of rebound thing and potentially get messy. That's if anyone is interested in the first place, of course. Which is another concern!

yes duckie this is exactly it!

my colleague is also potentially not the best person to get with - moody, implicated family life, and generally not the sort of person i go for but after years of not feeling anything I've gone a bit gaga.

thing is i know it's completely in my head. i've built it up so much in the space of the week I'm not even sure if i saw him again if it would be there. i'm pretty sure he's not interested at all.

i'm not sure this is progress from how i used to feel. at least before, i didn't feel any particular way, just dormant. lots of my friends do OLD but i just think it's not for me. it sounds like a lot of work and i just don't think i click with people in that way. not sure if i met my colleague last week as an OLD it would have sparked anything :(

Hmmm... maybe you should view your colleague as a sort of stepping stone to getting back out there Kitkat? Enjoy a bit of flirting etc. and if that invigorates you and gives you confidence, you should start giving off a glow that others will be attracted to!

Do you work in an environment where you could meet other potential partners? I work from home so am very unlikely to meet anyone this way, which is why I'm considering OLD. Am not photogenic though so not holding out much hope!

I think you're right! It has sort of woken me up to the fact that it would be much more fun not to be in a sexless monotonous unhappy relationship...ha!

I work from home too! contract to contract so meeting new people is extremely limited. last week was quite a rare going into the office meeting.

it's given me the impetus to move on from my relationship and get out there. i might just give OLD a go although I'm not photogenic either. You should too! i might start in the new year and just do it for fun and see what happens.

I talk to loads of clients and agents on the phone, but literally meet NOBODY in the flesh! Have met all my previous partners through work (when I had "normal" jobs) so this is all new to me.

Was thinking to start OLD in the new year too, once Christmas madness is out the way. I usually hate New Year and this year will be worse than ever, so it will give me something to focus on.

Keep in touch Kitkat, be good to know how you get on!
