That's not a big age gap.
Do you have kids?
Does he?
Do you want them?
Does he?
I think that's the only issue you might face.
8 years is fine.

TheLaundryLady · 28/11/2016 09:04

My DH is 8 years older than me. Age is just a number it's more important that you have shared interests, values etc and have fun together Smile

Scrappysmammy · 28/11/2016 09:05

There's an age gap with me and my DP, an age gap.doesnt matter if you love each other

fluffygal · 28/11/2016 09:07

Yes, I'm 31, he is 47. Doesn't bother us at all and don't notice the difference really. I am aware that as we get older, the difference may seem bigger but I am willing to take that chance.

He actually lied about his age and said he was 42, not 45 when we first met and that was pushing it for me, I always went for men my age or younger.

Simonneilsbeard · 28/11/2016 09:09

I'm older than my husband. It bothered me at the start because I was 30 and he was 24. I wasn't sure how that was gonna work out but it did. The gap doesn't seem as bad as he gets older.

That's really not an 'age gap', it's nothing, don't give it a second thought!
I think 'age gap' is more than 15 years (a generation?)

HPsauceonly · 28/11/2016 09:29

It's not a huge gap. My DH is 8 years older than me. The only think I would say is he has got a bit miserable in the last few years.

clarr · 28/11/2016 09:30

I'm early thirties and DH is mid 40s, it works well. We've only been together a few years. He's so immature anyway it's like he is only 25! It took him until age 40 to be ready to settle down and step back a bit from his career.

Proudmummytodc2 · 28/11/2016 09:33

Hi op

There is 10 years between my DP and I and to be honest it doesn't make a difference we are still in to the same things ect we have been together 9 years and have a DS and a DD now.

As long as you are happy that's all that matters

anxiousnow · 28/11/2016 09:35

That age gap is nothing. The fact you posted though makes me think it does bother you. Only you can give yourself those answers.

SandyY2K · 28/11/2016 09:35

I wouldn't say that's an age gap as such.

I had a 7 year age gap with a previous relationship, but I was much younger.

I'm sure you guys will be fine. Enjoy!

HOHOHOvariesBeforeBrovaries · 28/11/2016 09:37

9 years between DP and I. We've been together 6 years and get married in a couple of weeks. Enjoy your new relationship! :)

SheepyFun · 28/11/2016 09:39

My grandmother was 21 when she married my 32 yo (at the time) grandfather. They had over 60 years of happy marriage together. So it definitely can work!

My DH is 12 years older than me. We've been together 9 years. He is awesome. Age just a number. We were 24 and 36 when we met. X
