He did get me a card and a book that I wanted though. He can't help being ill, or the car or the funeral or dd being ill....

OrmIrian · 15/02/2007 13:08

Crap... in parts. Dh normally goes out on Wed which gives me a chance to get to bed early for some extra shut-eye. He anounced that 'of course' he wasn't going out so we could spend the evening together. Which meant that the kids had to be put to bed properly (normally DS#2 just goes to sleep with me when DH isn't there) - so that took hours and in the end DS was still up and running about at 9.30!! DH apparently meant to get a take-away but by the time he got home I'd started getting food ready (well of course I had as I thought he was going out). So.....by the time I had got the kids to sleep it was late and DH was watching the footie (just 'catching a few minutes of it' apparently).....so I got our meal ready.

I was starting to do the silent huff thing in the kitchen but decided it really wasn't worth it and to just let it go and open some wine. We had a nice time in the end but I do wonder how DH really expected me to feel romantic. Never mind I've started karate now so I'll be able to beat seven bells out of him next time he winds me up. Good plan eh????

LadyMacbeth · 15/02/2007 13:09

No bloody card, just a box of last-minute bought chocolates. Followed by a bit of a barney, followed by me making some food, followed by us eating it and drinking bubbly in front of Dragon's Den, followed by an early night () which kind of made up for his earlier blunder.

unknownrebelbang · 15/02/2007 13:11

Some nice stuff from DH, but a poorly DS3 put an end to the evening plans.

Mumpbump · 15/02/2007 13:15

Really good - we stayed in and watched the Arsenal match!!

But it really was quite nice as the au pair was out for a Valentine's meal so we were all alone for once, with ds fast asleep in bed.

Mumpbump · 15/02/2007 13:15

Sorry - forgot to mention that dh bought me 18 beautiful deep red, long-stemmed roses as wel!!!

frenchconnection · 15/02/2007 13:26

My Valentine's day started with a trip to A&E with my 6 month old baby. She was admitted to the ward so no chance of any surprise plans for DH (its also his birthday)

Came home today to a card and some beautiful flowers though

slayerette · 15/02/2007 16:22

Ds in holiday club - dh and I on half-term, day to ourselves - cinema in the afternoon - surprise flowers, etc - then I got evil headache in evening so romantic meal and wine still in the fridge Did manage to say thank you for flowers and card, etc before headache kicked in though

Whoooosh · 15/02/2007 16:25

Great for a change-even rose petals on the bed

SaucyMoo · 15/02/2007 16:26

Hope your baby is ok now micku?

Dh cooked a 3 course meal for us after work! And bought me 24 red roses-proper bouquet-the type you get in water..awwwwwwww. and i got a card from my 8 month ds...best card i ever got! I bought dh furry handcuffs-but didnt get a chance to use them-he was too tired after the cooking and went straight to sleep!!!

She's better now, thanks for asking. She's home now with some antibiotics and an inhaler.

trying2bgood · 15/02/2007 16:40

mine was very funny, we went to this greek restaurant where we have always wanted to go but for whatever reason never managed it! Anyway they did a set meal which was very not exactly very greek - smoked salmon and duck. And they had this guy playing in the background on an organ, the music sounded very fairground like! It was all very unromantic and just very surreal. But we both laughed alot at our predicament!

Had huge fight in morning which resulted in DP being 2 hours late for work , sorted it before he left though.
Night time we got a takeaway and some wine (no babysitters) and watched the Brits.
Earlish night, no rumpy pumpy as were both too tierd .
Have babysitters for tommorow night though
