What little (or big!) thoughtful things does your dh or dp do for you, that makes you feel loved and special and happy, and makes you feel glad to be with them?

No matter where he is in the world (and from work when in UK) he texts me at the time I wake up to wish me good morning and to tell me he thinks I'm gorgeous .

The reason im posting is because 3 months ago I left a LTR and thinking back I am really trying to see why I stayed so long. I cant think of really any nice things from it at all, and just wondered what a happy, healthy, balanced relationship feels like for other people

I always catch him looking at me and smiling.

There's no 'my'turn at making the cuppa in the morning, he slices lemon and ginger and brings me a mug while I'm in the shower every single day!!

He gets the new box of cereal down from the top shelf the day before I run out. This sounds unremarkable, but he doesn't eat it. Which means he either knows exactly how much I have and knows when I'm likely to run out, or he checks it every day just in case.

I'm in an LDR so it's a bit different but...

-She texts me every morning when she knows my alarm goes off for work to say Good Morning and I love you
-She cooks me mushrooms, a small thing to everyone else. But she hates mushrooms, the texture, the smell, the taste, everything. However she'll always make them for me (and as a surprise so I don't have a chance to take over!)
-And then every night she will text to say how much she loves us being together and how silly we are waiting three years to be together.

These are all such nice thoughtful things.

Hello, can someone tell me what an LDR is? I guessed Long Dead Relationship, but I must be wrong because BlueNeighbourhood sounds like he's not in one?. Thank you in advance!

Oh okay, thank you Shayelle, and I guess LTR is Long Term Relationship.

He he's in the spare room after a late shift so he doesn't disturb me.
He always writes me little notes in any cards he gives me.
When I was stressed at work he text me to say he'd made dinner for me and the dds.
He puts my pjs out for me to change into after work.
He is so lovely.

My DP gives me a foot rub every evening, a proper long intense one until his hands cramp up!

He's been working away a lot recently and he will FaceTime me every morning when he wakes up (my afternoon!) and every night when he finishes work (midnight here) for a chat. He also takes me out virtual shopping while he's away, showing me around the store and getting me to choose a gift! Then he'll bring several other surprises, chocolates, candles etc.

He tries to vary his compliments, so sometimes tells me I'm beautiful, sometimes funny or clever etc and will try to find new ways to tell me how much he loves me so I don't get bored of hearing it

He's always the only first one to apologise if we argue and is very good at learning from mistakes and talking about things to try and do better because he thinks we are so special together.

I just sent him a message saying I love him, he replied "love you more" - it's a competition to him!

Thanks for the nudge to say nice things about him Shayelle and I hope you can find a relationship that makes you happy. Obviously it's not all plain sailing, but the thoughtful little gestures go a long way to making up for any problems.

Oh and he bought me ear plugs as he snores and now he can creep out to work in the mornings without waking me - he will text when he's at work to say good morning and so that I can praise his ninja skills

DH went diving for a week. He texted me throughout the week and rang to say he was OK every evening so I wouldn't fret. Mind you he gets a better mobile signal in the middle of the Red Sea than our little village in Gloucestershire!

He always rings up any restaurant we go to, and preorders decent veggie food for me. So I don't have to settle for vegetarian lasagne or vegetarian lasagne

He looks at me and just smiles.
He works out a budgeted weekly meal plan and does the shopping as he knows supermarkets set my anxiety off.
He gives my hand a regular little squeeze when we're sat on the sofa holding hands.
He's coping my my pregnancy irrationality surprisingly well.

DH wants to introduce me to everyone he meets ( even though I am an anti-social misery guts). I can never understand why he is so proud to show me off.
Even when I am in my scruffs having made no effort whatsoever, he is keen to cuddle me for the long haul.
All this and we've been together 30 years! I am very lucky ... and we've had two bottles of wine tonight, ask me tomorrow and I'll only see the negatives.

When he's at work (away for 3 weeks) I get a text to wake up to and we speak every couple of hours. When he's at home I get coffee in bed without ever asking and flowers delivered once every trip home

He rubs my bum every night just before he goes to sleep. Not sure how it started, but it's become a habit, so much so that if one of us is away overnight I miss my 'goodnight, love you' bum rub.

He gets up half an hour before me and makes me a cup of tea in the morning.

When I used to work shifts, if id done a night or late shift I'd come home to my pyjamas wrapped in a hot water bottle and tucked into the bed.

The last few mornings where it's been frosty, he's scraped the car windows on my car as well as his, as he leaves for work before me.

This is a lovely thread, he's been a stroppy arse tonight because he's tired and grumpy so I'm actually feeling a little less annoyed by him after writing this.

He's not one for soppy pronouncements or gushy sentiment, but he is incredibly practical, thoughtful and kind and he always, always has my back. If my car plays up, he sorts it out so I don't have to stress about it. He checks my oil and tyres every month and every time I need to do a long drive so the car is safe. If I'm worried about something he'll talk it over with me and do anything he can to help.

I had my dogs before I met him and he utterly adores them which is so important to me - I was away for a few days last week and when I rang him on the first evening he was in the middle of cooking the fresh organic chicken breasts he had just bought for them 'because they like it'! He researched and ordered them fancy new light-up collars for our winter walks as a surprise after I mentioned that their old cheapy ones had stopped working. I could list a million things here.

He buys me chocolate croissants sometimes as a Sunday morning treat and warms them up for me in the oven. We share the cooking but if I've had a particularly long or stressful day at work he'll always have something nice on the go when I get back (he's self employed and wfh most of the time).

He rubs my feet when we're watching a film and lets me warm my always-cold hands and feet on him - he literally never complains when I get into bed after letting the dogs out and put my freezing hands on his stomach; that to me is love right there

I'm new in (new relationship) but it's all the little things that make me like him so much... he made me cakes with my favourite flavour, he listens to little things I say and remembers them. Even if he's really tired he would drive quite far to come see me even for a little while

He took my make up off for me every night.... we've split up tonight however.

My parents have been married for 60 years. Every night in winter he fills a hot water bottle and wraps her nighty round it so she can be warm.
Sigh. I need to find a man like my dad!

I'm going to aim for the hot water bottle situation one day as well!!
