I found out two days ago that my (ex)partner was accused of sexually assaulting his step son two years ago, as well as other terrible allegations of neglect. I've cut all contact and am living with my mum but I'm 7 months pregnant and struggling with coping with this information. The charges were dropped for some reason (the social worker couldn't tell me why) but there was 'credible evidence' that this happened. I'm so devastated, my world has crashed down around me. Not sure who to talk to or where to turn for help. I don't understand why he isn't on the SO register, hasn't been prosecuted, how he has been allowed to walk free?

I'm so sorry you are going through this what a massive shock for you.

You've done the right thing though - you'd never have felt safe with him near your DC.
Is your Mum supportive? How about others around you?

It's such a huge shock and I'm just so angry that nobody told me earlier..my mum is amazing and so supportive but is finding this extremely difficult to cope with too. All of my family feel like we have been blindsided by this man, as he seemed so caring and loving and normal. I just don't know what to do now, feel pretty lonely

I found out through a social worker as they were tipped off to investigate his past with social services by one of his family members who called them. Feel quite sick that he hasn't been prosecuted though. How do these things just go away? Don't the police have a duty to take the allegations to court?

Not if the cps don't think there's a reasonable chance of conviction I guess. And with no conviction he won't be on the SO register.

What a horrible horrible situation. Your baby will be fine and safe with you. I suppose you just have to be grateful that you found this out now. Thank goodness someone was brace enough to tip off ss.

I'm gonna go against the grain here and say you need to talk to him, find out what exactly happened. People get accused of crimes they haven't committed everyday. I know you've been told there was 'credible evidence', you don't know what that was. Find out then decide what to do.
