Help! Anyone from St Albans

Have a date tonight, yay! But all very last minute arrangements. Please can someone recommend a nice pub/bar in St Albans to have a drink, have a conversation without shouting over loud music and most importantly low level lighting ???????

I know it and think the Snug should be ok for cocktails etc. Could try Sucker Punch too perhaps and not sure what the Peahen is like in the evenings. Have fun!
