Will you be expecting anything from your DH / DP?

Do think you'll get it?

nah we dont bother anymore, did when we was fisrt together and didnt have children, but now we struggle with money without having extra things to spend it on.

swalesie · 07/02/2007 22:21

Curly wurly, how much would a card set you back? My dp works away for 4 weeks at a time and hes away now, so i got a lovely picture of me and baby and wrapped it up so he could get it when hes at work.....God i miss him and its only been 2 days!

wotzsaname · 07/02/2007 22:22

I am expecting the same as last year. Note to self, must go and buy myself a bunch of flowers!

ds was 5 days old last valentine's so we didn't do anything. instead dh drew me a picture of a fruit machine with three hearts on it. the hearts were labelled mummy, daddy and jake...and beneath it he wrote, 'my valentine jackpot....in the year our two hearts became three...'

bawled my eyes out it was so thoughtful. best valentine i ever got x

monkeymama · 07/02/2007 23:48

bet you he forgets this year tho!

wurlywurly · 08/02/2007 09:55

swalesie i would quite happily buy him a card, but then a card leads to buying him other things cos otherwise i feel stingy ONLY buying a card, which then makes him feel bad as we are usually skint by the middle of the month. Anyway its my nephews birthday on valentines day,

goingfor3 · 08/02/2007 11:12

The only thing I'm expecting is my period, the best present would be a BFP. Fingers crossed I get the second one!

lou33 · 08/02/2007 12:01

i bought 3 bottles of champagne and he is buying the meal, but it wont be til the 16th, i think i already said that tho

babybore · 08/02/2007 14:00

I love roses so I hope so!
I've bought dp a sat nav system. Romantic - no, adored - yes.

Blackduck · 08/02/2007 14:01

Nope and don't care.....(he will get nothing either....)

Sheraz · 08/02/2007 14:03

Expect nothing. Get Nothing . Give nothing. Hate valentines Day.

mosschops30 · 08/02/2007 14:04

A card!

dh said last night 'have you booked anywhere for valentines' and i said 'no you usually do it' he replied 'exactly its your turn this year'!!!

Which i suppose its right but I always think it should be the man taking the woman out not the other way round

lynniep · 08/02/2007 14:10

Nah, its nice to get one, but these days all that advertising is so in your face it just spoils it. Plus it falls right in between our anniversary and his birthday so its kind of overkill.
I much prefer it when he comes home with some tat magazine he's bought on the way back for me because he knows I like them. Shows he's thinking of me far more than being pressured into buying a card for no reason.

lou33 · 08/02/2007 16:50

all you anti valentine people need to look here

mishw · 08/02/2007 20:51

The best DH ever did for me was a carpet picnic not long after we had moved in and I was a student as money was really tight.

The worst (and admitedly funniest) was when he got me Chef from South Parks CD - Suck on my Chocolate Salty Balls - we weren't married then so I suppose I should have known what I was letting myself in for!

This year I have got him Dita von Teese's book - I think he;ll like that somehow. We've decided that VD pressies should involve something rude!

willandsamsmum · 08/02/2007 21:22

I've made DH a card already. We are doing a charity shop challenge - we both have to find a useful, suitable gift from a charity shop for under a fiver. Ensures thought and money going in the right direction.

Mishw - I got Dita Von Teese's book for DH's birthday. He was very impressed but then MIL picked it up and said that she'd been thinking of booking some burlesque classes. I think that took the shine off it somewhat.
