My half-sister is getting married. She's my sister via my mum (who I haven't lived with since i was 12) and her husband.

I've been NC with my mother for 10 years and my dhsis was young enough just to go along with my mum. There have been a couple of extended family situations since then, when our mother is there dhsis blanks me, when our mother isn't about we've chatted and she's enjoyed being with my dc (who our mother also blanks - which they found very distressing).

Now obviously We're not invited to the wedding, but I'm not sure what to do. I can easily get dhsis address from our brother (who is low contact with mother but invited to the wedding).

I thought of sending her a card and a voucher, and just saying we wish her all the best.

Am I mad?

I'm just about ok - other things keeping me up at 4am (not least a rather lovely puppy!)

I think I should do something - she's my sister - but I'm wary of getting more hurt. Our mother hurt me a lot and I'm not up for that again!

Yes, I would send a nice card, and voucher. She is still your sister. Not her fault your mother is the way she is.

thank you janaus. You're right, its not my sister's fault that my mum is horrendous, and her experience of our M is very different to mine - not least because dhsis is 15 years younger than me.

I'm thinking a decent John Lewis voucher. £50?
