Drunk texted my ex.. and now feel awful.

As the title says: I got very drunk at the weekend at messaged my ex (of 1 week).

I'm so annoyed at myself as we left on good terms and now I feel like he thinks I must be mad.

In my opinion it wasn't a bad message... just conversational with an in-joke but obviously he didn't reply.

Can someone reassure me I'm not crazy please (interested to hear worst stories!).

Oh don't worry lovey, we've all done it! They really should have a breathalyser app on phones to stop drunken texting shouldn't they?

text him back and say "ooooh - think i butt-dialled you the other night". if only becuase "butt dial" is my favourite expression at the moment.

OR ... watch the friends episode when monica changes richard's pin number on his answer machine and leaves his outgoing message as "blah blah etc etc ... i think i'm on my period or something". ... and she was sober at the time. (fictional, i know, but meant to make you feel better)

No don't make any excuses - you can't butt dial a text with an in joke and it will be obvious it wasn't meant for someone else for the same reason.

It happens. He's probably already forgotten it. Forgive yourself and don't think about it again.

I once did this and then pretended that my phone had been taken from me by a well-meaning friend who was texting unbeknown to me .... no in-jokes were included in the messages though.

He has replied with a very flirty message so clearly no harm done! Although now to resist replying.

Why did you break up?

We are both moving miles apart in a few months so we both agreed to call it a day and focus on our careers. So there are feelings there but realistically it just won't work..

Just reply. You felt shit when he didn't and probably relived now he has so just reply back. No harm, you've split for amicable reasons so reason you can't text each other.

That would be so difficult! Not the drunk texting bit...that is way too easy! But the splitting up because of logistics rather than feelings (or lack of) it. Sometimes you have to listen to the heart rather then your head....Enjoy your little flirtation - no harm done as far as I can ascertain.
