Dating a much shorter guy

I have been emailing a guy on Match.com for a few weeks now, we have a lot in common and he seems sweet. The problem is I am 5ft10 and he is 5ft6. I have never dated anyone shorter than me, I love heals.

Has anyone dated a much shorter guy, what was it like? Would you date a shorter guy?

As I get older I realize its the person over looks which are important, but I'm not sure about this one. For the record I am 33 and he is 28.

I'm tall and I have never dated anyone taller than me. I used to date a guy who loved my height and encouraged me to wear heels. DH is much more self concious of it and I have more or less given up wearing heels as a result - it was a bit of a bone of contention when we first got together - I used to wear high heels and he utterly hated it. We've both compromised on it - I only wear flats or low-ish heels when I am with him, and he has loosened up about it a bit. I would much prefer it if we didn't have the height difference if I'm honest, but we've learned to live with it. Obviously the fact he is my best friend and soul mate make up for it!

Jeez! that is impressive 6 foot 1! I did bump into a lady who was around the 6 foot 2 mark at a party some years ago, her biggest gripe was she couldn't wear heels which she loved as she knocked her head on doorways and the like!!

A tall story I'm sure;)

Well, I had my first date with my much shorter date last night and I have to say it was the best date I have ever been on! We just talked into the wee small hours, we only noticed how late it was when the bar staff were tidying up around us and came over with the bill. It was 1pm on a school night! Very tired at work today.

I am really looking fwd to seeing him again, not sure if he liked me as there was no touchy feely and he did not go for a kiss at the end of the night which would have topped it off. I think he was just shy or too much of a gentleman. We are going to a tennis lesson together next week, so hopefully things will progress a little more as I have a good feeling about him. I just hope he feels the same way and starts flirting with me a bit and goes in for that kiss next time.

Aww lovely - when I met my now DH we talked like we had known each other for years - I've never had that instant ease with someone else. Hope it all goes well, height differences are not the end of the world!

I have gone out with much shorter men. I'm 5'8. The shortest man I've gone out with was 5'2. Height wasn't an issue as long as his self esteem was good.

Meet him and see what you think. If his height will cause a problem for either of you, then don't bother.
