Reconnecting 2016: Making new friends

As there seem to be so many of us trying to make new friends (and I don't want to derail a thread in AIBU), I thought it might be time to start a new thread where we can see if there are any likeminded MNers who live near us.

A little about me, in case there is anybody who lives near me: I live in East Anglia with DP and two DSs (aged 5 and 2). I'm a SAHM and soon to be postgraduate student (finally got around to doing my psychology conversion). My main hobby is writing and I hope to be a published author one day. I love literature, politics, The Simpsons, drinking coffee, and shopping for books and makeup.

There was a Facebook group set up at the time, which you're welcome to join. It's called MN Social (it's a closed group, so nobody will know that you've joined).

Really want to join the fb group but it doesn't come up in my search. I'm in essex.

Some people seem to be having trouble finding the FB group. The only way around it is if I add people to the group myself, but the only way I can do this is if I add you as a friend on FB first. Happy to do that for anybody who wants to join but can't find the group.

Just had a search and I've found the group, it says it is a closed group, I'm not member but I can see the list of members. Just thought I'd let you know in case it matters to anyone that the member list is visible.

Yeah, the only way to stop that is to make it a secret group. Will put it to the group and see what they say.

This sounds like a great idea! I'm going to be on maternity leave with my second next year, and would love to meet some new people. From this thread alone it sounds like some of you are not too far from me (East Herts). I'll request to join the FB group.

Just requested to join (hopefully!). I'm south Bedfordshire with one Ds. Just moved here and haven't met anyone locally!

I'd like to join to having difficult time at home H have 4 children 10,8,4,3 live Lincoln have posted on here before briefly and always so helpful.
