Anyone around to handhold - ex taking dd abroad at the weekend

My 8 year old dd is going away with twat of an ex at the weekend. To france, which doesn't help with the anxiety I feel about it anyway.

I really don't know how I'm going to cope. Work, will try and run as much as I can. She's never gone abroad without me before. I'm sure it'll be fine and she'll have a nice time but it's all those hours I have to manage and I just don't know how I'm going to get through it. I won't be able to help checking the news every 10 secs, and then there's all the worry about him driving there, etc.

Hi Op. Completely understand your worries but as you have said I am sure she will have a lovely time. You need to fill the week with plans and keep busy. I'd stop looking at the news too. My dcs went to turkey and landed there just as the whole coup was kicking off two Fridays ago. I was beside myself. I hadn't wanted them to go either. But I managed to get a better sense of perspective and knew heir dad would look after them as I am sure your ex will look after your dd too. As my ex said the terror threat is high everywhere now, including in uk. Please try not to worry. I hope ex allows your dd to contact you if she wishes/make a phone call at least once to you. Give her a big hug and kiss and tell her you want to hear all about her wonderful time. You will get through it.
