Bloody men fucking diy

So fed up we bought our house 9 years ago and every diy renovation has been left unfinished.
Now this year is our 20 year wedding anniversary and we was going to have a big party to celebrate but to hire somewhere will cost in excess of 2k so hubby suggested we hold it at home. So now we are going to finish all the jobs that need doing.
2 weekends have passed and hubby has done sod all so today I thought I would start by replacing the kitchen tap as had the new one waiting to be fitted for the past 5 months. Well I'm no plumber so 1o year old son decided to help......well he just got on with it but due to the bad pipes we got a bit of a leak. Hubby comes home from work he does half days Tuesday and starts moaning.
Now he is in the kitchen with son trying to sort it and moaning like mad.
Ok I might of forced the issue but things need doing and if someone else asked him he would be there within the week or days possibly hours to help.
Sorry just need to rant as he has me close to tears

Tell him the party is off if the house isn't sorted.

Get a large piece of paper and list all the jobs that need to be done. Put the part finished jobs at the top. Then DH works through them. Or get someone in to do them all.

I wrote the list 2 weeks ago I sent him a copy and there is a copy on the fridge.
Hubby is capable of doing all the jobs listed but his social life gets in the way of him starting finishing attempting any of it. Or the excuse that he is waiting for one of his friends to provide materials etc.

Actually I would find it easier if he was completely useless. But his best friend needed bedroom furniture putting together and he was there soon after she asked. Why can he help others before us. It's like he wants a nice home then says fuck it

Could you just pay someone to do it? Throwing money at little jobs he could do himself might motivate him & if it doesn't atleast the jobs will be finished.

Well take matters into your own hands and pay a handyman to do what you can't.

Is it an issue that your DH helped his female friend assemble flat pack but CBA to help finish the DIY with you in your family home?

The issue isn't that he helped his friend it's that if anyone but me asks for his help he is there.

My DH works in the building trade and is the same. Is happy to do little jobs for everyone else. Still waiting 18 mths for our spare room to be painted.

This reads as if you will get a man in for sexual favours!

Good luck with that.

Tell you what £2k is money well spent for a relaxing party - if it is not bank breaking as oppossed to a bit of stretch, I would do that. 10 years later it will be a lovely lifetime memory.
