Would you say being 3 years older than a man is a big deal?

OP posts:
HolditFinger · 13/07/2016 13:53

Nope, not at all. I'm 8 years older than DH, married 13 years this year and still get on like a house on fire.

TeenyW123 · 13/07/2016 14:00

I'm 12 years older than my husband. Met 19 years ago this week.

LucyLocketLostIt · 13/07/2016 14:07

No

OneAppleADay · 13/07/2016 14:23

Only if you are 18 and he is 15. Grin

No, it's not a big deal.

StaleOreo · 13/07/2016 14:31

No. I'm 4 years older than my DH. He was 19 and I was 23 when we met.
31 years together.

catlover97 · 13/07/2016 15:39

DH is 22 years older, together 12 years and friends for 3 before that. I couldn't imagine my life without him.

13 year gap here.

One of my friends is 12 years older than her husband

NowWhat1983 · 13/07/2016 18:43

Is it a problem in your 30s

Say a man wont want a woman who is already older when in his 30s.

OP posts:
GoodEggy · 13/07/2016 18:51

I'm 37, DH is 35. We've been together for 10 years. I hit 30 before him and I'll do it again at 40. The only difference it makes is I can remember different TV programmes from the 80's and stopped watching neighbours before he did. Seriously, a 3 year age gap is nothing.

Gabilan · 13/07/2016 18:56

3 years is nothing. Being too old to have children if he still wants them can be a problem but I wouldn't notice an age gap like that otherwise.

NowWhat1983 · 13/07/2016 19:41

He wasnt sure re children

OP posts:
LaConnerie · 13/07/2016 19:44

Three years is not an age gap - to me ten years plus would be.

Stop overthinking it. Do you like each other? Are you both single? Then get it onnnn Grin

Gabilan · 13/07/2016 19:59

If he's worried about a 3 year gap, I wouldn't bother with him.

There are many men on OLD who feel they're entitled to a woman 10 years younger but won't consider a woman their own age. I don't bother with them, even if I am younger.

TinySalmon · 13/07/2016 20:01

3 year age gap is nothing. Like others have said, I wouldn't bother with him if he isn't on the same wavelength as you. That's all that matters really, not age, but compatibility and wanting the same things in life at the same time.

DP is 15 years older than me! Grin

BackforGood · 13/07/2016 20:02

Once in your 30s, I wouldn't consider 3 yrs to be an age gap at all Confused

LadyStarkOfWinterfell · 13/07/2016 20:02

A man who won't date a woman the same age or slightly older than him is a dick. Full stop.

Somerville · 13/07/2016 20:08

I'm 3.5 years older than my chap. We're both late 30's. Just!

Not an issue to him.

Felt slightly weird to me for about 2 minutes. Then I realised that I'm less likely to become a widow for a second time. Smile

It does seem to be relatively unusual though. We go out with my friends and all the (male) partners are the same age or up to 12 years older. We go with his friends and all the (female) partners are between his age and 5 years younger.

BlueFolly · 13/07/2016 20:14

Ah, if he hasn't got kids yet, and you're towards the end of your 30's then maaaaybe. But still, the problem isn't the gap per se, it is your age regarding potential decline in fertility.
