My OH is never too ill during the week to work, but then collapses at the weekend.

Is it me wrong with a terrible work attitude or is he checking out of family life?

A bit of both. I admire that he never bails on work. Perhaps he works so hard at work that he feels he can find a safe place at home to let down his guard and just chill out.
When you say 'collapses at the weekend" - what do you mean?
Is his job physical?

I can see why you would feel frustrated.

You'll need to add a lot of details really, like what kind of work, how long, what kind of illness. What kind of house. Young kids?

Meanwhile ... have you talked to him about it? Otherwise you're kind of living up to your username

He is a business consultant, works 9-5 with 2 hour commutes each day.
And by collapse he is tired, flumpy and sleeps.

I'm very similar to your OH. I spend every ounce of energy keeping my job going then spend evenings and weekends exhausted and recharging. I get that it's not ideal but I have a chronic pain condition which is getting to me lately.

Have you spoken to him? Is this a long term thing or just a blip?

I am similar to your OH, I worked through two HG pregnancies on a busy ICU, I'd sprint for the sluice, throw up, have a mint / rinse my mouth and back to work I went. Once home I was practically bed bound with exhaustion. I did it because I am the main breadwinner and loosing my wage means loosing the house. I feel under a lot of pressure to keep going because of this and my home life suffers as a response, is it similar for your DH?

I work around 7-7 including my commute. My day-to-day job is very intense though. I tend to crash at the weekend and catch up on my rest, but am also able to get out and go to the gym, go out with friends or cook a bloody decent lunch on Sunday.

Does he do anything on the weekend? What do you mean by 'collapses'?
