Do I have to go through Facebook to use tinder? Is it the only way?

Yes but it doesn't post anything to your Facebook. It does tell you if you have friends or interests in common though.

Ok thanks does it matter if I barely have any friends on Facebook and files it use your real name?

No it won't matter, it does use your name but just firstname. I think there may be a way to alter that though. If you're worried you could always set up a dummy Facebook page?
