Father's Day - what to do?

WellDoYaPunk · 14/06/2016 22:06

I want to help the kids do something nice for their dad, my ex.
My eldest especially was so upset on Mother's Day they hadn't got me anything or planned anything, so for them I want to do something but what?? Any ideas? They are primary aged

If they're seeing him that day, how about getting them to make him a card and take him for a picnic. It could be to the local park, or a nearby beauty spot or the beach.

Moonpig card and personalised mug. Not much effort required from you but they will enjoy choosing the card and photos and it is sufficient effort that he will hopefully feel like a total arse for not doing anything on mother's day for you.

If they are having contact then a card and low cost gift, Tesco has a good selection.

Try to be the better person. Rise above mothers day and exemplify what should happen on father's day. They will reach their own conclusions when the time is right

Lelly's idea sounds great and it's something they can really get involved in.

Sorry you didn't get treats on Mother's Day. That is rubbish for you and for them but hopefully the effort you all put in this weekend will pay off next year and your ex will remember to help them make the day special.

Have you got a craft place near you? Mine enjoyed making candles & painting holders to go with them. Kills 2 birds with 1 stone. The kids are entertained & a thoughtful present is made.

Is there someplace he could take them for the day? Last year I got my STBEH zoo tickets to take the DC. Of course he doesn't really like the zoo but they do ;)

WellDoYaPunk · 15/06/2016 07:17

Thanks, yeah I don't really mind, but the dc did iyswim - in tears because they felt bad ! He's not a bad person just not thoughtful.
Hmm yeah picnic is possible.
