Diary/scheduling apps - recommendations pls

Feel free to direct me to another talk section but need some recommendations to help me organise DH, DS and DD. Plus 2 dogs. I've tried calendars, spreadsheets etc and last night had another row with DH when he said he was travelling for work - it's part of his job, issue was the whether or not he'd told me/texted etc
I know there's lots of apps etc out there but I want something that real people - that's you mumsnetters actually use and think are at least decent. Something that allows us to share a calendar plus notes on stuff. I'm on android, he's an apple addict.

Have you tried using google calendar? If you both have/make a google account, one of you can set up a calendar then share it with the other (and the kids if they're older).

You can colour co-ordinate the events in them, giving everyone a colour, set up recurring events with a start and end time, and put details in the event. For example, I use pink, my partner uses blue, and shared events are purple.

I can put a trip in and a note on what time I'll need to be picked up from the airport when I'm back and set an alert to remind him a few hours in advance which bleeps on his phone with the reminder so he remembers when to get his butt in gear. Or if we are going to something, and need to do things to prepare, we put a to-do list and shopping list in it and when something is done or bought, delete them off in the run up to it so we're covered if the other person forgets to mention somethings ticked off.

When you set it up, just make sure you give the other person you are adding all the permissions you have, to see and edit everything.

It would work well if you're on different operating systems.

Another vote for google calendar. It's really easy to use and it's the only way any of us know what we're doing.

Google calendar works for two adults, three jobs, three boys with manic social lives and two dogs. Being able to set reminder alerts on the phone is great. And when you put in a children's party I also put in buying the present as another event with alerts which is a life saver.

We just use Outlook, works for us.

We just Google calendar too. I'm personal accounts and a family/kids calendar.
