I have posted in the last few weeks. I joined pof although I have heard horror stories I couldn't afford to pay for a site. I had lots and lots of positive feedback here which was lovely and definitely encouragin.
I have taken ALL avicenna on board and arranged to meet someone tomorrow. I was a little concerned of my size and only putting face shots on my profile. Anyway I'm kind of ok. I think!
Just wondering how I should be or what to do on a first date? I am meeting at a pub in the afternoon. I'm soooo nervous. I don't even know why I'm posting I am just so nervous. I almost cancelled 😕

I bet your date is nervous too. Grin

You'll be fine, if you're nervous just tell your date and laugh about it, it'll diffuse the nerves.

FuzzyOwl · 06/05/2016 20:34

Good luck. I hope it all goes well.

Kirsty67 · 06/05/2016 20:36

Noooo.Do not cancel...
He may be feeling the same way...
Give yourself plenty of time to get ready...enjoy the excitement and nerves you're feeling...all normal.
Go with the flow.....thats all you need to do and take the evening as it comes...
Oh...and smile and be yourself....this date wouldnt be happening without a little "something"☺

gemsangels123 · 06/05/2016 20:40

Ohhhh thankyou all so much ☺ this site has been so helpful to me. I don't feel so 'alone' chatting on here.
I won't cancel. He either likes me or he doesn't right. I have to meet new people everyday at work and I'm fine. This....I'm so so nervous.
Thankyou everyone Smile

Dont forget to let us all know how it goes...😊

exWifebeginsat40 · 06/05/2016 20:44

make sure someone knows where you are and check in with them once you know you're staying for the date..

I met my DP on POF 2 years ago. good luck!

Seeyounearertime · 06/05/2016 20:48

Op, don't forget the first thing to do when you meet.
Sit him down, tell him to smile, take a picture,
"It's to show everyone on Mumsnet"
Grin

justdontevenfuckingstart · 06/05/2016 20:49

Just go and be yourself! Date might not be as described either (has happened more than once) Have fun, be open and if it's not for you 'thankyou and take care was nice meeting you' I can emergency pm you if required lol.

gemsangels123 · 06/05/2016 20:57

Awww thankyou all Smile
I will definitely let you know how it goes.
Meeting naturally would be so much easier. I'm gonna be brave.
Thanks all for the advice. I hope I'm really chilled. It's not like I can drink wine to calm my nerves. This is normal I guess.

Ok, thankyou Autumn Rose Smile
I will try to be myself. Hate being judged. Are we being judged do you think?

Of course you'll be judged. That's what a first date is about - it's to judge whether you like the other person!

gemsangels123 · 06/05/2016 21:25

Hmm scary stuff! Hate being judged!
Haha ok I will check out the toilet window on arrival 😂

Don't drink too much is also good advice.
One of my first dates I got a little bit too squiffy.... so squiffy the pizza I had made a reappearance later that night, needless to say my date didn't make a reappearance.

gemsangels123 · 06/05/2016 21:34

Haha oh no 🙈 I don't mean to laugh 🙊
I am driving so no worries Smile
