Pregnant after ONE DATE and now meeting the 'other' family - how to go about this?

Hi there,

I am 6 months pg as a result of a (happy) accident after one date! The father to be and I are getting on well but not sure at this stage if we are going to be a couple or not, but def will be co-parents.

Neither of us have met one another's families, we barely really know one another tbh. Does anyone think it will be OK to wait until after birth to meet another's family or would that be too weird? I can't work out what to do for the best because every scenario just seems really awkward. Thanks for reading.

Good luck with the meeting, hope all goes well for you.

In my case we both knew it wasn't right just then for either of us. We got to know each other well & developed a great friendship with all good intentions to co-parent our daughter as best we could. He got into a new relationship while I was pregnant, his gf was fully aware & she also played a role in dd's early life (she is now one of my bestest friends).

When they split I spent more time with DH and we rediscovered our attraction and it became a more traditional relationship. We married 4 years later & never been happier.

BTW, I too was going through a divorce when I got pregnant with DD. It's a stressful time but it's all turned out well!

Thanks Yolandi for sharing that, it is a lovely story!

It just shows how life can turn out in unexpected ways, which I suppose makes the journey all the more interesting Smile

Do NOT wait until after the birth!! Having a baby makes you feel completely hormonal and crazy for at least six months. Add into that sleep deprivation and you will not feel your best and won't want to meet anyone trust me. Meet them now and get it over with I say. Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Similar thing happened to my husbands best friend.

They met the family before the birth and it was awkward but made things easier when the baby was here as they weren't dealing with that awkwardness as well as a newborn

They moved in together just before the birth so he was there to support her

Incidentally they now have 2 beautiful children and are getting married later this year

If I were you I would get it over with now, you don't want to spend the rest of the pregnancy worrying and after you've had the baby you won't be feeling at your best! They will be nervous too I suspect but probably were keen to meet you. It sounds like you and the baby's father are behaving in a very sensible way! Good luck and congratulations X
