Am I being unreasonable?

My partner and I mortgage our own home, however we have a HMO licence to use it as a houseshare so that we can get extra income as I am pregnant and unable to work full time due to complications.

We have our own living room with stuff and a bedroom comprising of a bed, wardrobe and a desk. Absolutely no issues with any tenants moving in until now.

There's a lady who is moving in and Oh my god. My partner has agreed and this woman has all of her own furniture and my partner is getting rid of most of our stuff from the living room and putting all her things in there! The bedroom she's told us to get rid of the bed and wardrobe so that's also stuck downstairs making the house look like a furniture shop. I'm really not happy as she doesn't realise it is a shared house but she's putting her storage into the front room where we sit and now we cannot sit there.

I sound so harsh but am I being reasonable? He didn't say anything because of the money!

Completely unreasonable. She can pay for a storage room in Big Yellow or something.

What if you damaged a piece of her furniture? Or if she just claimed you had? Would she expect you to pay for a new one?

She is being totally unreasonable and your partner is being a dick to just accept it.

She is moving into a bedroom as a lodger I take it, not taking over the house.

What does the tenancy agreement say with regard to the communal areas?

Tell her that if she has more furniture shit than she has space for then she must either put it into storage or find herself a more appropriate place to rent.

Why just accept it.
Has this woman been given and signed a tenency agreement

Who's the landlords here? Your house, your tenancy agreement, her responsibility to abide by it and not dictate.

Tbh, if it's like this now then I'd look for a way out. I have to have tenants I can work with and that's just for btl properties, not for people I've got to share my home with!

Bounce her out and tell your DH to use whatever brain cells he has left in his head!

She is supposed to be a lodger, not relegating your lives to one corner of your own home.

Thank you all so much for your input thank goodness she has decided she doesnt want to move afterall as all of her stuff just wont fit in our front room anyway. Maybe my tantrum made my partner think twice about it!
