Completely got the wrong end of the stick when talking to an old friend about him really liking someone but wasn't sure what to do about it. I thought he was talking about me and got all excited as we are due to meet up next week for dinner/drinks.
We have known each other for a few years and always had a chemistry but we were both in long term relationships so that was that. We are both now single so when he was talking about his crush and asked me to meet next week I stupidly thought he was talking about me and was testing the water with me by talking about his crush.
Anyway, during a conversation today it turns out he was talking about a woman he works with and he's finally 'professed how he feels to her' and she feels the same way. I acted thrilled for him but feel so stupid and gutted. Now I don't know what to say. I wasn't in love with him or anything but we get on really well, are really similar and I fancy the pants off him. I have been single for a while and really thought this weekend something might happen between us. Don't really know what I expect people to say but just wanted to tell someone because I feel a bit dumb for thinking he might like me
