I would say neediness is in the eye of the beholder. Both DP and I like to talk every day when we're not together, send little notes throughout the day to let the other know we're thinking of them, we are very tactile when we're together and often compliment each other and tell the other how much we love them etc.

We meet for lunch even when we're going to be together that night as well and given the choice we would both choose each other rather than friends or family if we have free time.

If I (or he) were with someone who wasn't on the same level we would appear needy, but as we're both happy with this level of lovey dovey-ness it isn't needy or high maintenance, it's just how we express our affection.

He will also 'instruct' me to get my hands on him when he hasn't seen me for a day or two as he likes to feel my hands up his t-shirt and will tell me about all the impressive things he's done at work that day and I'll ruffle his hair and say "who's a good boy?" like he's a dog!

It sounds bizarre, but its all in good fun and demonstrates his 'neediness' - I understand that some people might not find it as adorable as I do.

I'm needy but pretend I'm not needy as I don't think it gets you anywhere in life.

I've been seeing this man since end Jan. I only get two nights child free. He usually see's me on both but cancelled last night. I just wanted a hug and to see him. I obviously need more

Needy for me, is when someone doesn't have their own life & constantly harasses you by phone/text & asks stupid questions, just to engage you in conversation

It's not needy to be disappointed at the cancellation of a date you were looking forward to.

It would be needy to not accept that occasionally plans have to be changed for genuine reasons and to make a major issue out of it.

Was there a genuine reason for the cancellation?

He was in a meeting till nearly 9. And was full of Flu. Anyway am working on being less needy. Only contacted him once today - to reply to his morning message. This is so hard

So actually, it wasn't you being needy, it was you sensing that he was withdrawing. Good spidy senses there, though I appreciate that may be poor consolation at the moment.

Plus that was definitely man flu if he went to his meeting. Yeah, you wimp, it was a cold.

Agree with Hedda, this is not about you being needy. Twice a week is not a lot to expect of a boyfriend. If he can't commit to that then you're best off without him. As a lone parent nights off are precious and you don't want to waste them on someone flaky who will cancel on you.

Don't feel like you have to change, when you meet the right person he will relish you needing him x
