My 12 yr old daughter is due to go on an Easter visit with her dad. She doesn't want to go. Do I force her?

Firstly, I've never seen a normal post in webchat before! Confused

Has she said why she doesn't want to go? Is she normally happy visit with him?

Hi there,

We've moved this thread over to Relationships now.

At 12 I would say don't force her, but is she giving you any particular reason why she doesn't want to go? Does she usually go to him quite happily?

If she lived with her father and wasn't wanting to see you for Easter would you be happy not to see her? I'd be encouraging her to go if there isn't a good reason why she doesn't want to go. keeping a regular relationship with post parents should come ahead of whims. You can't force her to go age 12 but with my kids I made it clear they needed a good reason for me to back them up if they didn't go to their dad's and they wouldn't be doing anything exciting with me if they didn't go.
