Steel present for DH (11th wedding anniversary)…. ????? Handcuffs?

NotdeadyetBOING · 22/02/2016 18:29

Seriously….not thinking of handcuffs. But has anyone got any bright ideas? He isn't into mechanics type stuff so no 'tools' or similar. There are probably cool steel sculptures around if I had gazillions and endless time to look, but wondered if anyone had any brainwaves or had come up with anything inspired. TIA.

Does he cook? Some really good knives.

A metal finish suitcase.

A watch with a stainless steel strap?
Cuff links?

SpuriouserAndSpuriouser · 22/02/2016 19:59

Oh no I liked the handcuffs idea Grin

Does he have any hobbies?

NotdeadyetBOING · 22/02/2016 22:40

He DOES cook -but I thought it was supposed to be really bad luck to give knives not that I believe any of that superstitious claptrap

Suitcase idea is appealing - will definitely give that one some thought..

He has a lovely watch so that's no good - but cuff links might be worth investigating.

He would almost certainly love the handcuffs idea, but doesn't mean he's getting them

He is into cycling like so many middle-aged men.

Also v. into wine. Maybe some sort of weird steel decanter??? Hmm - maybe not.

Eigg · 23/02/2016 00:16

Just buy him a steel bike. he'll be very very happy

Out2pasture · 23/02/2016 00:30

giving money with the knives (even a penny) breaks the bad luck.

MuttonCadet · 23/02/2016 00:49

Yep, get him to give you a penny per knife and it's not bad luck.

goddessofsmallthings · 23/02/2016 01:04

Before you hand over a gift of a knife, or knives, to anyone you're fond of ask them to give you a small sum of money, as pasture has said a penny will do, as this ensures that the knives won't cut the ties you have to the recipient of your gift.

How about something like this? Go something similar for my dad one Father's Day and he loves it

There are quite a lot of other nice steel based things on there too.

ACatastrophicMisintepretation · 23/02/2016 01:30

Oooh, or this:

Is it very obvious I can't sleep?!

SoThatHappened · 23/02/2016 02:15

Watches are bad luck too.

Time running out.

HerRoyalNotness · 23/02/2016 02:45

This is only a daft little thing, but I saw it mentioned on MN and bought for H and he loves it

mill. Falcon tool

RealityCheque · 23/02/2016 06:17

A cock ring.

Colabottle10 · 23/02/2016 06:59

How about a bespoke leather belt with a stainless steel buckle?

NotdeadyetBOING · 23/02/2016 09:10

Ooooh - Etsy is a rather brilliant discovery; thank you!

And also like the belt idea….

Interesting about watches being a bad luck present….. Sadly we've already done that for each other so will just have to live with the consequences.

Have found a rather brilliant stainless steel feather book mark. Sounds weird, but actually clever. Just shoved 'steel' in Amazon search box and was patient. Let's see what it's like when it arrives, but reviews are good.

Cufflinks personalised in some way to cycling. Bike spokes or something?

suspiciousofgoldfish · 24/02/2016 13:35

Before you make your decision OP, give this idea some consideration -
Welding mask, big perm, some leg warmers, a chair, a bucket of carefully suspended water and a wonderful Flashdance experience.
Yes, the bookmark may be useful but this would be a treat that would stay with him forever.
