Is this controlling?

I've been dating my boyfriend for two years and I'm wondering whether some of his weird behaviour verges on controlling.

For example on Saturday we were driving back from the rubbish dump and we went to the McDonalds drive-thru. I was deciding what to order and he said I had to have a Happy Meal.

If he didn't let you keep the free toy, then yes. That's wrong.

Bananalanacake · 18/02/2016 10:15

Was he trying to save money as a happy meal is cheaper? if so you could have said you wanted a chicken burger and paid for it yourself.

HandyWoman · 18/02/2016 10:18

Oh yeah - just remembered it's half term innit!

FellOutOfBedTwice · 18/02/2016 10:23

Toys are rubbish at the moment. I had a Happy Meal on Saturday and it came with a watch that didn't work.

Re the controlling behaviour, OP, we are going to need more info.

Thattimeofyearagain · 18/02/2016 10:36

If he normally tells you what to eat then yes. If not then no.

Marchate · 18/02/2016 10:44

Can you give more examples?

The fact you are asking implies he has done things like this previously

theclick · 18/02/2016 10:45

Do you have more info? Did he mean it as a joke? Right now the way you describe it is really cut off

JesusWife · 18/02/2016 11:00

What toy did you get?

firesidechat · 18/02/2016 11:07

And you said...?

Fairenuff · 18/02/2016 17:57

Are you still trying to decide?

dodobookends · 18/02/2016 18:02

Now if you'd gone to the McDonalds drive-thru on the way to the dump, that would have made more sense Grin
