When I went back to work after DC I sorted my shifts around DH and being able to look after DC and family having DC on certain days etc, since then I've changed my days again to fit around DH and family... DH has took a new job, he looks after DC on a Wednesday now he says he has to work that day once a month and I need to sort it out myself. My day off is a Thursday I've changed this twice. DH is the boss and does the rota at his place of work and I don't. I feel like I'm only asking him for 1 day that's it 1 day! I look after DC on all the other days and my family, how can I expect to put onto them, I can't as they all work that day! I feel like it's very unfair and 1 sided surely he has responsibility as much as me. Btw he told me before he got the job he would definitely have this day off.

Nursery? Childminder?

What does he say?

Tell him to sort it out or you divorce him and he can pay for childcare 50% of the time.

I'd think he was a selfish ass who thought childcare was the sole responsibility of the mother. In a nutshell.

If he only needs to work on wednesday once a month can you and he share taking the 12 wednesdays this represents as annual leave? Not sure of your DC age but is school age presumably some fall in school holidays anyway. If he does the rotas it does seem unreasonable to be inflexible on this day but what reason is he giving?

I'd tell him that it's his responsibility as the father to sort this, especially as you've done it previously.
