FB Message - husband cheating

So, I got a message from someone I've never heard of (very common name, think Tony Smith so hundreds on FB) at 2.35am today saying 'your husband is using the Internet for casual sex' No name of husband or any identifying details, literally just those words.

I deleted the message and haven't spoken to dh about it as he was working nights last night and is now in bed.

Gut instinct tells me this is bullshit but wondering whether to even mention it to dh.

Thoughts?

Do you think he could be using the Internet for sex?! If I got that message I would just ask DH about it to be honest. Is there a reason you don't want to ask?

You should've investigated instead of deleting.

I'd ask for more info/proof from this "Tony Smith" before I'd even mention it to hubby.

It is the school holidays.

I'd assume it was a fake account and people messing about.

No absolutely no reason to suspect. I didn't delete it intentionally, it had an accept button next to it, I pressed no and it deleted the message. I will mention to dh later once he is up, see what he says. I have checked his FB friends and no one of that name in there, I'm assuming it is someone being a dick.

And this would be why I don't use Facebook. Some people make stuff up just to cause trouble. Maybe tell him about the message and see how he reacts?

Someone else on here had the same message last week. It's s scam OP.

In all honesty, I think it is some dickhead messing about and sending random messages to people for kicks. Just like when I was younger, people would do the same thing but over the phone. Before things like 1471.

I think it's a scam - I've heard about this before.

I suppose the issue is if you think it could be true.

If you get a message from someone who is not you friend, you now get to options - accept, which tells the sender that you've viewed the message and allows you to reply, and reject, which deletes the message. You can also press back and do nothing.

With such limited information, this is probably a scam.

Thanks all - it was a bit if a shock even though I felt certain it was a scam. It's horrible, sews a seed of doubt. I'll still mention it to dh though

Unless he is AWOL sometimes or secretive with his phone. Which would be tell tale signs that something was up.

Like my DH says "who has the time for an affair?" We do both wonder about that one. I mean surely the person shagging about would have large chunks of time "missing"?

Yeah sounds like nonsense to me as well. Probably someone fishing for information for a scam.

Yes. It was a woman's name but a dodgy-looking fake profile. I'd be suspicious of the lack of evidence or explanation.
