Getting over the end of a friendship

Someone i used to be really really close friends with recently decided that the friendship was over. There was fault on both sides and the friendship had been in decline for quite a while but i kept making an effort hoping that magic one day things would go back to how they were (unrealistic i know), whilst she decided that it wasn't worth struggling on and that the friendship was over. I'm guessing she isn't giving it a second thought and is merrily carrying on with her life but I just can't seem to let it go. I keep mulling over what I could have done differently or how i could have been a better friend. Any suggestions on how to move on?

I think it's a grieving period when you lose a friendship. It will take time to comes to terms with.

What were her reasons for ending the friendship?

There is nothing you can do. Bide your time, your sense of loss will pass. Don't expect to get over it without feeling hurt.

All of the above, and also know that you aren't alone X many of us have been there at one time or another.

I'd say that, with the space in your life now, work out what the new broom is going to sweep in x
