It is my folks wedding anniversary tomorrow, (a big one) and I am trying to say how much I am grateful for the stability they have given me and my siblings (and the grandchildren). But when I write it down I feel like it looks like they have stayed together because of us and I do t think that is quite right :(. Anyone who can help me with phrasing? TiA

Maybe you should phrase it more along the lines of showing a good example of a long and loving relationship rather than the 'stability' it has afforded you.

As a lone parent, my DCs have two loving parents and are still living in their family home. They had more instability when xh and I were together and they had to move house often to follow him in his job. I don't think your stability comes necessarily from the longevity of your parents' marriage but from their constant love and support for you.

I know I'm probably seeing this with my lone parent glasses on, but perhaps that it why you are struggling to find the words, because they are not the right ones?!

Yes Cherry, that sounds good! Sorry, rereading my post it sounds a bit snippy, didn't mean it to come across that way, just that it could come across as a "thanks for not making me the product of a 'broken home'!"

Why not emphasise that what they have together is exactly the kind of happiness you would wish for yourself and your children?
