Would someone tell me what to think of my partners junk mail? He is always fast to delete them too fast iynwim. I've had a chance to look at them and its from [email protected] or russian girls and justcamstv and many more erotic staff. Does it mean he visits those pages?

This household does have IT engineers, you're wrong.

As does this one and they agree with Masterbuilders

Who actually opens porn spam and clicks anything, that is stating the obvious. You do realise most people don't have static IP addresses nowadays? Stuff doesn't attach itself to IP's :s If you look at dodgy porn and download stuff, yes you can get dodgy viruses. Obvious is obvious.

However for your email to get this, unless you've subscribed to a porn site, the cause will be your email being out there on the WWW. It's that simple.

I get that kind of spam all the time and never been to any dodgy sites. Also I delete my junk mail every time I look at my email, out of habit.

Would think there's nothing in it.

DP and I both use porn sites and the spam folder in my standard email is literally full of emails from mumsnet telling me about my watch list.
I get the usual porn spam on a loose email I only use for signing up for things I don't trust.
A tip for people that don't want spam, have a separate email address which you only use when you need an email address to sign up for something and instead of inputting your name put the name of the website. That way when you get spam mail you can see exactly how they got your email address.

DH and I both work in IT.

Masterbuilders is correct.

I could explain it in detail but quite frankly given a quick google of the subject matter should prove sufficient I can't be arsed.

I have several email adresses.
I keep one for friends and family, one for using when buying online, some for other stuff, work etc.
I dont visit porn sites or buy prescription drugs online or look where to buy watches and so on.
Guess which email had, at last count, 238 spam messages offering the above along with USA bank loans, lottery winnings from places I've never bought a ticket , parcels to be delivered...

I am very popular with hot Russian girls and I'm a woman. They are always in my spam folder, begging for.... well you know.

Incidentally, I'm not online at home and only have my work address. I cannot view porn because of the filters, but I'm still a babe magnet.

I get emails saying 'are English and European women too strong for you? Try our Russian women!'

To my work email address, no less. One of my contacts has been spammed and unfortunately I am on that list.

Freda, you and your DS are wrong.

In the past spammers and scammers were known to visit guestbooks on websites and gather the email addresses of anyone leaving a comment if the address was visible on the page.
Never put your email on anything going online or you can expect spam. This is why I have several addresses.
Nowadays they often gather info through those pop up " you have won a prize" type ads, or buy a list of emails from when you've signed up to receive futher info/communications from firms.
Once a spammer knows they have a live email address they can pass it around, scammers are well known for doing this too.

Freda in spite of using the same machine and router for my emails only one account gets spam, that kinda negates your theory.

I regularly delete cache and cookies, I hate ads following me around the internet.

Another chiming in to say that I get spam for all sorts, including porn, and that they don't get my email address from my ISP. That may have been the case in the days when everybody's email was linked to their ISP (as in AOL, Daemon, etc) but now a lot of email addresses are independent (Outlook, Gmail, etc) so are not ISP linked.

Either way, spammers lift your email address from all over the Web, not from porn sites.

We don't have static Ip addresses nowadays either, they change.

I have an email which has been used for nothing, absolutely nothing. It's a professional email I use just for the volunteer role I partake in with children. To contact parents, etc.

It's been spammed. Why? A not so savvy parents email got hacked, they harvest email contacts and bam. That's what happens Freda, if you click links in these emails. You get hacked and phished, then they target your contacts.

All of a sudden I'm looking for Viagra, hot Russian girls, Christian dating, yadda, yadda, yadda.

It is literally as simple as a third party being hacked and your email being passed on, or you agreeing to it with third party ticks. Then it goes on and on! It just means your email is out there!
