So, went on a date tonight, & this is a new one on me, not only did he turn up with NO MONEY WHATSOEVER AT ALL - couldn't even afford to buy himself a pint. He took me into a local (well known) dept store & asked me to buy him a (frivolous) non-essential household item costing £50!!! & he was fucking serious!!! Shock Bare faced cheek of it! My head was screaming 'Are you fucking kidding me?' but instead I said 'errrr, no...sorry'.

Have you ever heard the like? Needless to say we'll not be meeting again.

wow. Did he say why he'd turned up with no money?

I once arranged to meet someone for a walk on a lovely sunny Spring Sunday lunchtime. When I asked where he'd like to meet, he he said outside the local branch of Boots the Chemist as he needed to pick up a few things. I ssumed he'd do his shopping THEN meet me outside but no, he waited for me to arrive and then did his shopping with me in tow.

I once drove 30 miles to a date (he didn't drive which is normally a but off putting but I gave him a chance) and he told me he was skint and would I mind buying him a pint. I did but left when he asked me during conversation if, on our next date, I'd stick things up his bum.

I had one who spent the date talking about his ex and how he had a dreadful life because of her, including that he had a reasonably extensive criminal record that was all because of her 'tricks' and the fact that she had a new boyfriend who was a security guard in the local Tesco and so obviously had 'connections' that triggered a campaign against him by the Police.

He also kept asking to come back with for a 'night cap' (it was the afternoon) and literally followed me up the road 'just one quick night cap' over and over. He kept texting for months after, his poor ex, I can well imagine what the arrests were for.

What was the applicable op? How did he ask? Shock

Which website did you guys meet on? Did he know this was a date?? I'm just baffled and curious to know what HE thought, the TWAT!

Fuckitfay, I don't want to out the guy (& invite trouble to myself) but it was an item that you'd choose for personal enjoyment (don't get funny ideas). The sort of luxury you DON'T BUY if you're skint.

Muddle, he just came out with it, it was the first thing he said. He said it again & again & it was a bit embarrassing. I said I'd get the drinks & not to worry but the walk to a cashpoint freaked me out a bit. I stood my ground though & refused to use it.

Beyonce, I'm reluctant to name the website but it was mainstream. Yes, he knew full well it was a date. Quite frankly, I'm stunned. I thought the household item might be for my benefit but it turns out that no, it wasn't. It was for his benefit alone as I wasn't invited back! not that I'd have gone anyway

BSites no, it was two deodorants, toothpaste and a stop at the aftershave counter for a spritzing session. Rather killed my ardour.

whataboutthisthen I can well believe it having done a lot of OLD in the past. I once had someone tell me he couldnt afford escorts any longer so was resorting to on line dating until he went into the priesthood. I kid you not. I kep in touch with him for 6 months by phone/email. he was bloody gorgeous

Not the first OLD story that's made me go..WTAF ? The brass neck of some people. I mean, just where do they get their ideas from ?

I have heard stories of blokes who go out on a date for a meal with no intention of paying so that their date is embarrassed into paying. That's the behaviour of a small time con artist that's only to pleased for a free meal and a 'date.'

But asking to meet at a shop and the date is asked to pay for things ! The more I hear about OLD the more I just think....jeeze !

The closest I ever came to that was being asked out to the pub at lunchtime one weekday. I drove to the pub in my lunch break. I met the guy, he said he didn't want anything to eat as he had football practice after work. I couldn't help but wonder why he wanted to see me for lunch on that day. I felt a bit awkward eating in front of him but hell, I wouldn't have had any lunch otherwise. Anyway, it's kinda nice when dicks identify themselves early on.

Some blokes just want to be the woman and assume they are getting some mug/sugar mummy to buy everything they want. They assume that's what women get, and think, 'I'm having some of that.'

Why do blokes think that women they meet from OLD don't want to be treated properly ? I've heard they're like a kid let loose in a sweet shop, I guess that's why.
