Sisters!

My sisters have recently had a big fall out and are not really speaking. In about six weeks I am going to the city where both live, for work. I am there for one night and will be staying with Dsis 1. I feel bad going to the city where they both live and not contacting both of them, however also not sure I can face seeing them together if things are tense. There is not enough time to see both of them separately.

What should I do? I reckon my options are;

  1. Say I want to see both of them and hope they can come and be civil to one another for my sake (but could be v awkward).

  2. Say to Dsis1 that I want to see Dsis2 when I first arrive, and let her decide to either come, or alternatively I'll see Dsis 2 on my own and I'll go to Dsis 1's house later. Feel kinda bad as Dsis 2 is hosting me and taking time off work to meet me when I arrive.

  3. Not say anything to Dsis 2 about coming to their city, and just see Dsis 1.

Is there really no way to fit them both in separately? Like breakfast with Dsis2 or something?

I definitely wouldn't try not telling dsis2 that you're going to her city, that will just end in a much worse row when she finds out after the fact (and imagine how hurt you'd be if the situation were reversed).

I would be straight with dsis1, you appreciate her taking time off to come and pick you up but realistically that's the only time you can see dsis2, so you would rather come over to hers (dsis1's) later. Don't ask 'is that okay' or say 'if you don't mind' - you don't want to get dragged into why the two of them aren't speaking.
