DH and I were in a very sexual relationship until about 5 years ago. We have 3 DC's, the eldest is 25 yo. After about 5 years ago, I felt no desire IYSWIM. It was a chore, that I got on with, but enjoyed very much, when it happened. I had chemical implants, that I was told, might diminish my libido but not by much.

Before that, we would be intimate at least 4 times a week. After the implant it was 1 or at the most, 2 times a week.

I am now feeling recovered, the implant is due for removal or replacement, and feel insatiable. To the extent that DH is worried that there is something wrong with me. DH is happy with the change, but, I wondered, has anyone else had this. I wonder, is this due to the menopause, that I think I have just emerged from.

For the record, I have not name-changed, I am not a journalist, and my MN posting history is open. So, I am not a troll.

This is a bit of a big thing for me, so please be pleasant if you can't be polite.

Lucky you! Enjoy it! I think I have heard of this before - when women aren't worried about getting pregnant, they can feel much more free.

Are you saying you have had the menopause? And its over? Was the implant for contraception?

ModreB · 23/09/2015 21:36

The implant was for contraception. My last tested hormone levels say that I went through the menopause while the implant was in place.

I had no symptoms other than a couple of hot flushes. As did my DM and DGM. And, my DGM had my eldest Uncle at 49yo, naturally, without any other treatment.

My DM was 53 when she went through the menopause, my DGM was about 55.

So why would you have the implant replaced? If you have gone through the menopause surely you don't need contraception any more - this was what confused me in your original post op?

As for more mojo I thought it was common leading up to menopause and then afterwards

You probably have a need to make up for lost time after the dampening effect of the implant. Just enjoy it. Bullet vibes fit nicely in handbags.
