My 16 yr old DC recently began an apprenticeship, been there a couple weeks.
I get child maintenance until his 17 birthday (under the court order) but exh has phoned DC's new employees to speak to them about 'child tax benefits' or something along those lines (DC cant remember exactly what it was).
Exh refuses to speak to me at all, hates that he has had to pay me child maintenance so I cant ask him why. He also refuses to tell DC why he did it.
Any ideas? This is a highly manipulative man and I feel very concerned about what he might be up to. We have been divorced 2 years.

Could be finding out if you are still entitled to child benefit as your son is "working". If he is then your ex is no longer liable (under CMS rules) to pay maintenance so he could be using that as a reason to go back to court and get it rescinded.

I believe that an apprenticeship is not classed as education so I assume that you are no longer getting CTC or CB for him?

Maybe. No I dont get any more CB for DC, but exh only has one month of maintenance left to pay.
Wouldnt it cost to go to court?
Also the court order said till age 17, or 18 if still in full time education.

Why is he doing it? Because he is a cunt who is trying to shirk his responsibility.

Wouldnt it cost to go to court? Yes, which is why he thinks that not paying the last month means he will get away with it. You wont chase him for one month's worth because it will cost mrooe than you will gain.

Sounds like he is trying to find out if an apprenticeship is full time education, which proves he is a fucking idiot as you just need to google it and it comes up at the top of the search page.

As it is, yes he should stop paying after this month, but I suspect he doesnt know that.
